This is Parmant Aloysius
Parmant Aloysius is a small-scale vmbo-t secondary school in Eindhoven, where students are encouraged to discover who they are, develop their talents, and dare to dream big. In a safe and supportive environment, students receive personal guidance and attention, allowing them to grow at their own pace.
A key feature of Parmant Aloysius is Inspirion Education. In this innovative approach, students work on real-world projects in four inspiration labs, where they learn by doing, collaborating, and exploring. Theoretical lessons in the classroom support and deepen this project-based learning.
Students learn both independently and together, with the right balance of structure, support, and challenge tailored to their individual needs. This way, they develop strong knowledge, practical skills, and self-confidence — preparing them for further education and their future in society.
The Dutch school system explained
In the Netherlands, all children attend primary school from the age of 4 to 12. After primary school, students move on to secondary education, which is divided into three main educational streams. This system allows students to learn at a level that best matches their abilities and learning style.
The three main school track options are:
1. Pre-vocational secondary education (vmbo),
2. Senior general secondary education (havo),
3. Pre-university education (vwo).
At Parmant Aloysius we offer vmbo.
Vmbo – Preparatory vocational education
Vmbo is a four-year secondary education stream with a strong practical focus. Students combine vocational subjects with general subjects such as Dutch and English. There are different vmbo levels, ranging from highly practical (basisberoepsgerichte leerweg) to more academically oriented (theoretische leerweg) or a combination of both (kaderberoepsgerichte leerweg). Vmbo prepares students for further vocational education (mbo) and is usually completed around the age of 16. Students who complete vmbo-t can progress to havo.
